I have an opportunity to pick up a JD No. 9 sickle bar mower (7') but I'm not sure about how well it can be mounted on my JD 790. The mower seems to have pre-dated the Cat (x) hitch standards. It has attachment points to hitch the draft arms and top link, but it also has u-bolts that attach the forward end of the mower frame to the draft arms (at a point close to where the draft arms pivot on the tractor). It's those attachments that seem like they'd be problematic with my 790.

Do any of you have experience with these mowers and have advice to offer? Thanks!

I'm certain that you have the horsepower. If you have access to a torch and welder, go for it. If not then maybe someone else has the answer about the arms.
