JD L120
I have a JD L120 mower I bought used. Everything seems to be working fine with it, except for when the PTO is engaged. When the PTO is running and I'm trying to reverse, the RIO kicks in, but it doesn't shut down the engine, it just runs rough (like the choke is on). The same happens when the PTO is running and I rise off the seat. Is this normal, or is the engine suppose to shut off completely?

BTW, when I turn the key to the "off" position, the engine also runs rough for about three seconds until shutting off completely. It is always exactly three seconds, and it runs just like what I mentioned in the above paragraph, rough.

I tried searching here and on google, but I saw nothing like the symptoms I am experiencing. Other than that, the engine runs perfectly when cutting (no smoke, no missing, nothing).

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would bet you have a poor connection is the ignition ground system someplace. Could be any were from the wire on the ignition modules, through the wiring harness, and the safety switches to groung.

Thanks for the response, I wanted to know if the symptoms was normal or not before I dove into checking the wiring.

Thanks again.
