JD Historical reference book???

Need recomendation on obtaining a book that accurately depicts the various JD equipment models - such as manure spreaders etc. We are trying to identify the model and history of a manure spreader that has been in the family for a whole bunch of years. I need to find/buy a book that will provide sufficient pictures/drawings etc to identify this ol pooper shooter.

I think you could probably either find something like that through John Deere or get a recommendation from them as to where to go for such information.

Can ya post a picture of it? I did a lot of digging to find info on my 1950 JD model H spreader, I might be able to identify it for ya.

I have a book called something like: "care and maintenance of farm equipment" somewhere around here. It's dated 1941 and was published by John Deere. I'll try to dig it out and see if there is anything on spreaders. There might be something since it shows how to maintain a lot of older machines.

The following book might be helpful:
Macmillan, Don and Russell Jones. John Deere Tractors and Equipment. Volume One, 1837-1959. American Society of Agricultural Engineers, 1988. On pages 346-349 here's a section dealing with manure spreaders. A number of models are pictured and a very brief description given; however, there are no specs and this wouldn't be much good for restoration unless you could get what you need from the pictures.
