hello i have a old jd grain drill how do you id the model number thanks

It would help if you describe it or post a photo. Does it have an even or odd number of seed openings? Is it a plain grain or does it also apply fertilizer?? What color are the seed box lids and are they flat or curved??

also look for any cast in p/n's they sometimes can help you w/ the jdparts and going that way if not too old.

it has 16 seed openings,plain grain,yellow flat top also found this #DR1610B001277M

Cea what you have is a john deere dr1610a end wheel drill. Hope this helps.

Yep it's a DR 16 seed openings,10" spacings between seed openings & SN 1277

Nice old drill. Can't see from your photos if it has trip clutches to raise and lower the openers or if there should be a hydraulic cylinder to handle that operation. I restored a pair of Minnepolis Moline P3-6 drills (10 ft wide, 20 drops, 6" spacing) a few years ago. One of them had the trip clutches. The other was hand operated so I rigged up a hydraulic cylinder to raise/lower the single disc openers.
