I have a J.D. Trail Gator that starts fine, but when you put it in gear it shuts off. Am I having a safety switch issue? And if so, where is it located? Thanks for your help.
Are you aware of any safety switches other than "no start" if in forward or reverse? Mine is older 4x2, and that is the only switch I'm aware of on there.
Not sure of the year. Actually belongs to my boss. It shuts down in either forward or reverse. My son said that when he was coming to a stop it shut down when he pressed the brake. Thank you for your help.
But it starts no problem if putting in neutral??
Indicates electrical, shorting out the ignition.
But if "shut down" means it is killing the engine when put into gear, then might be in the tranny and may explain the son's experience when he pressed the brake.
