JD E130 Garden Tractor Parking Brake. Edit: fixed!

My transmission belt broke while mowing on a hill. I disengaged the transmission, hooked it up to my pickup and pulled the mower up the driveway. I heard a squealing noise when I was almost to the top. I then realized I forgot to disengage my parking brake . Now when I push the brake down, I can’t engage the brake lock it to hold it. Is there a simple solution? Thanks

More info:
On the dashboard, the orange "flip" parking brake lock/unlocker does not work. I can slide the orange plastic lever up and down and there is no resistance and it does nothing to "lock" the parking brake on or off.

If I push the parking brake down with my foot and go to "lock" the brake on, with the orange lever, nothing happens, other then the parking brake pedal travels back to the normal "dis-engaged" position.

Any idea what the orange plastic tab connects to somewhere behind the dash and how to approach/fix?

Some JD mowers will not allow the parking brake to be engaged with the transmission disengaged. So may want check that.

Try following the linkage and see what may be disconnected or detached. May have to remove some parts like the seat and then the fender deck.

FIXED!

Thanks Randy and been there! After replacing the transmission belt, the parking brake works fine. It could very well have been the transmission being disengaged.
