Looking for a rider. I had a couple old 250-400$ CL mowers and am tired of constantly broken and busted mowers. I have a "big tractor" a john deere 950 that handles all heavy duties pulling trailers, snow, bishhog etc.

What i need is the front, back yards, septic field about 1.5 acres of flat ground few obsticals. Im looking at upgrading my 950 to a 5xxx series and really want to put as much money towards the big tractor and as little towards the mower as possible.

With that in mind and being used only for mowing how long will one of these units last? I know for 250-300 a year i can keep going with the garbage CL mowers (latest one was a stx38 for 250) do you all the a d105 or husq vth22 will these last 6 years mowing a flat 1.5 acres? Id really like a mower i can go out and turn a key andstart mowing. The l110 and stx38 are really garbage compared to the 950 which is a **** of a tractor just a little light for my needs

Honestly for the $1,500 you'd pay for either of those I'd go used and look for a 300 series JD (I.e. 316 or 318) in decent shape.

I agree. The dealers around here that I know of won't even work on those box store mowers.

I've got a John Deere GT235e that has about 330 hours on it that I'm going to sell soon (because I got a Kubota BX) that will still be going strong when a brand new box store mower is in pieces. Someone could buy it for the same price, but I suspect it will be a hard sell since most people looking at box store mowers just don't get it.

Owning both the 100JD and a 300JD ,I would have to agree.

Your in a tough spot imo, as I see it the k46 has known problems and the rt400 is new as I understand it. I would put my money on a lightly used older machine and up the money as needed. I have a L130 with the k46 and 280 hours, needs transmission rebuilt. I understand money is tight but I would really recommend you spend a little more and get a better machine. I think it will be cheaper in the long run. Years ago I had a 68 with a 5 speed gear box, never a problem, I thought the the la105 was similar. The new rt400 may be fine but I would be reluctant to be the guinea pig.
