I have a JD 935 I have Been Putting a bungee strap on the mower engagement lever ever since i have owned it now the blades stop running when i hit tall grass, i understand the blades engage electronically, thank you jerry

There is an electric clutch at the back under the motor. Either the clutch is in poor shape, or it's not getting enough power, or the belts are worn or need adjusting. There is also a belt in the mower deck. On mine the belt tensioner springs break once in a while and then the blades won't turn.
