JD 870 3-pt won't lower

One other place to check is to trace your 3 pt hitch hydraulic lines back to your control valve, or the tank (or both). Not totally familiar with JD, but my tractor's 3 pt supply line actually runs thru the FEL control valve thru a power beyond port. If yours has the same "plumbing" you may have a small clog in the return line, or the port at the valve.
