Price Check JD 855

What is a fair price for a 800hr 99 JD 855 tractor? 7,8,9 K?
And what size is the darn thing, on the internet they look rather small, but the picture the guy has looks like the thing is a mid sized tractor (person selling says rear wheels are 4 1/2 feet tall), does that sound right?

Thanks, should have stated and I think I said, I searched the internet "And what size is the darn thing, on the internet they look rather small", pictures do not look the same as the owners pictures, just looking for some real world assessments.

If you are familar with the newer Deere CUTs, those 855s are about the same size as the 2000 series Deeres...maybe a tad larger. Not as big as the 3x20 series machines.
IIRC, the rear tires are about 20" tall...definitely not 4.5'!!

These machines have held their prices quite well, but it also depend on how they're fitted out (MFWD, loader, etc), hours and overall condition. $7K would be about the minimum for a good machine with MFWD and a loader, but I would expect a higher price.

What Roy said. I have one and love it. 800 hours is really low for a tractor from the late 80s/early90s (the tach/hour meter hasn't been replaced has it). I'd say $7 to 11K depending on the condition and attachments

The 2520 and 855 are similar in size, within a few pounds weight and an inch wheelbase. The 855 does looks larger, especially when you sit on one. This may be because the seat is higher and the hood is flat, not sloped. The 855 tires are 33 inches tall. This picture may help give you a size comparison. BTW, check further on the model year. The last year for 855 was 1998. S/n number range checking is available.

It has a working hour meter now.

Well guy sold the 855 before I got to take a gander, so the search continues.

Too bad, 855 is a great machine. I seriously am considering adding a second.
