JD 855 Rockshaft lever

Help! The latch that locks the rockshaft lever on my 855 does not hold when I select my MMM height and the Park brake does not engage as it should... When I push the brake pedal down and lift the park brake lever its as if the brake pedal does not travel far enough.... Can anyone offer some help to a guy who is new to Real Tractors?

On the mower height, are you talking about the adjustable stop by the lever or the round one on the floor? And on the brake, what do you mean when you say it's like the pedal doesn't travel far enough? Are the brakes not holding or is the catch not holding. If you hold the lever up, the lower one, and push the pedal down you should hear some clicking as the brake is being set.
Need some more details to know what is going on for sure.

I'm talking about the adjustable stop near the Rockshaft control lever....I think maybe if I tighten up the bolt a little that will take care of the problem. As for the park/service brake I still have not been able to get it to operate. I have tried lifting the park brake lever then pushing down the brake pedal and I have tried Pushing down the brake pedal and then lifting the lever. I still can't get it to engage...I'm willing to try any and all suggestions......HELP!
