JD 855 mid mower lift problem

I just bought a JD 855 tractor on Monday. It's the first 855 tractor I've owned and I know nothing about it, and it came with no manuals. Monday evening I mowed my creek bottom to try it out. Other than stirring up some hornets, everything went well. Today I decided to drop the 72" belly mower and put on my scrape blade. What a royal PITA that was! After much struggling and cussing to reattach it, the lift for the mower deck doesn't seem to be working. The 3pt still raises and lowers, but ever since I reattached the deck it seems to be staying in the down position. I don't get it, because I was raising and lowering it while I was reattaching it, but once it was completely reattached and I tried it out......nothing. Please help, and thank you.
