JD 850 Extra Horsepower?

I had an old diesel mechanic tell me once that I could turn up the injection pump" or increase the inject timing slightly to get a little more "UMPH" out of my JD 850 4WD compact tractor. Was he talking about adjusting something in the inject pump or just advancing the inject timing slightly? My tractor has the 3-cyl Yanmar Model 3T80J diesel engine. My manual calls for 26 degrees BTC +/- 2 degrees as the stock timing? What can I do safely to get a little more "mule power" out of this little green beast? C'mon now. I know that some of you old "Green Machine" mechanics must have some tricks up your sleeves about this one. Ha!

I am just wondering what task you are doing that requires more than the 19 hp that the Yanmar engine offers? Granted, there are a lot of things I did with my 13 hp Ford 1100 that I wish I could do faster, but at the expense of what other part of the tractor? I am sure there is something that can be done to increase this hp output, but what is going to put that extra hp on the ground and at the expense of just how much in the long run? There is nothing better than a tractor that has no problems, and if you ask the engine to put out more than it is set up to do, are you giving up this?
Another option might be to put in for a larger tractor to do this other task or schedule more time to do it.
How many "Hot Rod Mechanic's" have you seen on the weekend NOT working on their cars?

Note:
I went from a 13 hp tractor to a 70 hp tractor and love the difference. However, the few percentage points you will get by souping up the engine probably won't be worth it, if even noticeable. Even 10% is only 1.9 hp which isn't all going to hit the ground due to traction and other variables.
