JD 827E Snowblower Help

Sorry if this isn't in the right place, and also sorry to be asking the question when it's around 100 degrees outside.

This is my first snowblower; it's dual stage because we have a pea gravel driveway. For the life of me I can't blow snow without throwing gravel even though I have adjusted the small skid plates. Is there anything else I can do?

Two winters ago when we had massive snow I wasn't that concerned but I'd like to avoid the wear and tear if I can.

You could try to have the skid shoes modified so they
cover more surface area, I would bet any small weld
shop could weld on a steel plate that's wider/longer than
the skid shoe on the blower. I've seen a lot of different
ideas, but the objective is to keep that cutting edge up
on top of the gravel, and sometimes the narrow skid shoes just
drive down into it bringing the whole blower down into it too.
