JD 820 serial number location

Where is the location of the serial number on a JD 820. I bought one and have since found a plat eon the engine and one on the rt side of the frame above the front wheel. Are these the only ones and which one is used to determine the year? Is the data on tractordata.com correct in reference to the year built?

Look for a plate just above the rear PTO shield. That's where Deere put the SN for the Yanmar built machines, anyway.
However, the 820 was built in Germany, so it might be in a different location.

I assume you're talking about a "newer" 820, not the two-cylinder variety? ~~ grnspot

The serial number on the right side of the frame above the wheel is the tractor serial number. Tractor data does have pretty accurate serial numbers listed. Since there were two different 820's made, be sure to look at the correct one. The one that lists serial number ranges from 1968 - 1973 are the ones you want to look at. At least from your description of location of serial plates, I think that is what you have. As usual, we would all like to see some pictures!!!
