Hello everyone, new member. I just bought a John Deere 755 compact tractor with a JD model 52 loader and a JD model 261 3ph mower and am looking for information on these machines. Previous owner did not have manuals (and didn't know what several levers and knobs do) and I would like to get basic operating manuals. This machine is older (I believe it's a 1986) but has relatively low hours and seems to be in good shape. From the checking around I did in various places before buying it seems that the model 52 fel is not that typical. Model 70 loader was more common? I know there are several places to buy manuals, but I didn't know if they would cover the 52 fel and mower, and I just wanted to pick everyone's brains as to which may be best sources for information. I'm sure I will be back with many, many more questions but will leave this request here for now. Thanks in advance for any help you can give. Bill

I have manuals for my 855 and 70A loader. I'm not willing to part with them, but if you need anything looked up, PM me and I'll try to help.
The 52 loader was an earlier version to the 70 and 70A (slight difference to account for the longer wheelbase of the 855/955 over the 755)

I've got a 855 and found manuals on ebay. There are some after market maintenance manuals but I prefer the John Deere owners manual. I have a 52 loader but haven't found a manual for it.

Bill,

The 52 loader was THE loader for the early models. My tractor was a 1987 (bought in 1988). It had the model 52 loader. I recall that the 1988 models had the model 70 loader. I no longer have the manuals as I left them with the tractor on trade-in. I'll try to answer any questions you might have. It is a great tractor.

I think that you are correct, Jeff. I don't believe that the 52 loader was used very long. I couldn't say which years, but your info sounds correct.

Bill, can't you buy manuals through your Deere dealer? I am sure that they will cost a lot, but they should still be available. Deere has excellent parts support.

I agree with that but about 4 years ago I found out that the bucket for the 52 loader was no longer available. I had to get one from ATI to replace the original. It probably has more to do with the short time the 52 loader was offered than the age of the equipment itself.
