jd 727 engine stalls when pto is under strain

My John Deere 727 runs great. When I engage the PTO is runs great but when I go in taller grass that causes strain, the engine stalls. Any suggestions?

I realize this is an old post but I'm having the exact same problem. The engine backfires and sputters until you get out of the deep grass. Runs great otherwise. Have you found a solution? Anyone else have any suggestions?

make sure that you have adequate fuel delivery to the injector pump. The usual culprits for restricted fuel delivery are clogged tank strainer, pinched fuel line, clogged filter head, clogged fuel filter and improper fuel system bleeding after filter replacement.
