We have a "new to us" JD 7200 max Emerge 4 row planter. We are in the process of getting it set up to plant corn and are having a hard time. Whenever with raise the planter the marker arms drop, and when lowered, they fold up... the complete opposite of what we need. Additionally, one of the two drive wheels completely lifts off the ground quickly when it is lowered causing the planter to tilt to the side. That side's row unit is buried into the ground while the row unit on the other side of the planter isn't even touching the ground. I can get the fan to run for the vacuum system, but the gauge is not reading anything.... I have yet to check if it is sucking or blowing out of the vent on the side.... seems like a lot of things are running in reverse on this thing today. Is there something I should be looking at that is obvious?? Seems like something was installed backwards at some point. We haven't done anything to this thing except plug the hydraulics into the tractor.

UPDATE.... At some point in the recent past the hoses were switched around on both of the lifting wheel cylinders. This caused the marker arms to respond in reverse. I figured it all out by accident; after re-sealing the one leaky lift cylinder I re-attached the hoses according to the noticeable bends and marks which lent themselves to what looked most natural. The longer hose goes the longer distance etc. Well, this was opposite of the way it had been connected when I bought it (at auction). I'm not sure why they were put that way, but whatever...it's all working now. The vacuum gauge didn't work because the tubing had been capped off, again I'm not sure why but an easy tubing repair made everything connect again and the gauge works perfectly.

I just saw this tonight and was going to ask if some of the hydraulic hoses had been switched or messed with, but you already got it figured out, a lot of times equipment gets semi stripped down so it can be hauled on gooseneck flat beds to the auction and then it's hit or miss or best guess putting it back together, glad you figured it out though.

I have a 4R 7200. I separated the markers from the lift last year. Works great if you have an extra remote or a splitter.
The marker uses one hose and operates separately from lift.
I do have to clean out the mechanism every other year as dirt daubers and mice clog the operation of the cylinder mechanism with their mess.
