JD 655 Starting When Hot

After mowing 2-3 hrs with my JD 655 when it's hot, but not overheated, it won't start unless it's cooled off for 3-4 hrs and then it starts right up. Any idea why it won't start when hot?

What do you mean that it " wont start"? Will it turn over but wont fire or you turn the key and nothing happens?

Won't turn over when key is turned to start position. Oil, battery, and temperature lights come on but starter does not activate

Starter solenoid probably binds from heat not allowing magnetic plunger to operate.
