So what's your point? Do you object to people trying to help and having different opinions instead of making smartass comments? I appreciate their efforts.

Agreed the final solution being posted is a good thing so all the others who use the forum search function in the future can benefit as well.

The point is, you started your first thread on 12/21/13. Less than 2 hours later, CobyRupert suggested, in the fourth post in the first thread, you put a voltmeter on the battery and the first time you've been able to put a voltmeter on the battery is 23 days, 2 threads and 106 posts later?

Glad you got to the bottom of the problem, fixed it and there was no permanent damage to your tractor.

You apparently weren't following the thread or you really do need a slap on the head. That post was buried within many others that suggested very different approaches in rapid succession. You also failed yo notice that I wasn't notified about any posts for two weeks until one of your more concerned members inquired what happened. So your rude comments suggest you need both a reading and a manners lesson. By the way, it's Duh, not Doh.

To TxJim, TheFred and ZebraFive -- Thanks to you and all who contributed. It turned out to be a pretty weird story and more complicated than anticipated, particularly for those of us that don't to this stuff all day.

No i said 'DOH'

D'oh! - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia!

And yes I was following. I check any thread I'm subscribed to that is active when i check in, thru the 'My Home' tab. The post reply courtesy messages the board sends out sometimes don't work. I went for years one time with no notifications... Thus I simply 'check'.

As for the sugestion to use the voltmeter being burried. SO? if you had a flat tire on your car and 10 people offered advice.. everything from pushing it, to changing the oil, or running around yelling 'help help' , and some people also told you to put air in the tire / change tire... Are you saying that because you had more than 1 option.. you wouldn't at least try putting air in before.. say.. pushing it? ;)

That was my point. The volt meter test takes virtually no time and is easy. When diagnosing or investigating a problem.. I always like trying the easy/free stuff first. Besides. You had already noticed one HUGE piece of evidence.. when you hooked a battery charger up correct polarity as marked ont he battery, and you got a abnormal spark.. that was crucial evidence of a polarity mismatch that was overlooked... just sayin....
