Neil,

I would appreciate it if you could also take a stab at the hydraulic and GPM rate issues raised by Richard.

Thanks.

Steve

sflr,

I have had two 6415's. The last one that I traded for was right at $47,000 with a 640 self-leveling loader. I'm not sure if your price included a loader. I would hope it did. I just went to Deere's website and the base price for the 6415 mfwd with two remotes, which would be more than adequate for your operation, is $54,000. That's list price. I could get that tractor for $41,580. I'm not sure what all you put on one but I put virtually every option available on the configurate and couldn't get to $67,000 on a 6415.

As far as hydraulics you won't notice it much if all you are running is your 567. I would check the requirements on the 567 baler though. It requires alot of force to keep the doors closed on the 567 but I think 18 gpm would be enough.

Basically your hydraulic flow is going to determine how fast you do things. If you're doing alot of loader work your recycle times will be significantly faster with the 25 compared to 18 gpm. Alot of machinery is hydraulic dependent. Meaning you have to have a minimum gpm flow to run that piece of equipment. Our planter, for example, requires 35 gpm.

For your operation either tractor is going to serve you well for years to come. Pick whichever one suits you best and you can make the best deal on.

Neil,

As a whole you can expect Kubota's AG tractors to run 6000-8000 less than CNH/Deere.

If you can sell me a Kubota M105X with a self leveling quick attach loader for $40,000 I'll take two of them just as soon as you can get them delivered.

Richard:

Lets make it 3. I'll take one too.

I really like Neil, a true salesman.

By the way, your "lubrication" pills are the best. Many thanks and have a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

We aren't going to run any hay next season, all we are doing is wheat straw. It's real complicated why not, but it will give me some time to enjoy the finer things in life, like riding my motorcycle/sidecar outfit around the country.....better be careful, I might drop in so long as I don't have to become a "farm hand" while I am there.

Daryl,

You're really not going to hay next year? Wow. Why are you getting out of it? PM me if you don't want the information public.

Concerning the Kubota line of tractors, I purchased a Kubota L5030 (cab) for my wife to cut grass with. I soon found it to be a very nice tractor that I really enjoyed paying for. The quality and performance impressed me a lot. The true question is, would I trade my big horsepower tractors for a Kubota equivalent, the answer is no.

When it comes to being able to put hp to the ground I look for weight and gpm flow just to mention a few. On the other hand, if I was NOT purchasing a tractor for hard farm use and didn't need the tractor for tillage or any other severe duty applications, I would look at price, service, resale and the age old "gut feeling" to determine the best tractor for the application.

JD makes a great line of tractors in the above 120 hp. Under 120 hp its anybodies game. I hate to say it but I'm not sure JD even makes any of their tractors in the less than 90 hp line. My friends JD has a Kubota motor and I think the only thing JD is the paint. I have owned several JD in the past and in the past everything was made in America. Once they started bringing them in from overseas, my loyalty stopped.

They may say there assembled in the US (import taxes advantage) but all the parts are from overseas.

I do have to agree with you here. I don't spend a lot of time with machines over 60-70hp, but I have heard a few seasoned guys questioning if the X-Series will hold up doing tillage work for years to come. Kubota seems confident enough as their favorite demo involves a huge ripper that the tractor absolutly man-handles. I think Kubota is filling a niche here, but I am not exactly sure how to classify it.

Around here many people on small farms are getting around to replacing 30-40 year old machines bought new and find their favourite brands are gone. Many are scared of all the technology in the big brands and like the simpler machines like kubota and mccormick.

From your message I don't know if you are a M105X owner or not, please explain.

Yes, I took the plunge yesterday!!! M105X with am/fm/cd and the self leveling FEL. $46,400 plus 0% financing for 3 years. You are absolutely correct, it does match up versus the 6420. I went back to the JD dealer just before signing up, wanting to try to work something out and he candidly admitted that this matchup is very difficult for Deere. He acknowledged the closest he could get was $9,500. We discussed the GPM flow gap: 25 for JD and 18 for Kubota. We discussed all my applications and he said that the gap would not affect my use, except for rapid FEL use. The 6420 would be quicker / more responsive due to the higher GPM. Howver my former JD 6200 I used had the 18 GPM, so I will not notice a reduction to what I am used to.

Yes, I would very much like to discuss the comparisons, either here, or you can email me at sflranchok@yahoo.com

Thanks,

Steve
