A friend has a JD 616 mower and hit a huge rock and broke the cast iron piece the blades mout to. The piece is 1 inch thick by 4 inches wide by 36 inches long. Welding cast is a royal you know what, could a piece of steel bar be used in it's place? The dealer wants about $400.00 for a new one. Would this be a part that would be somewhat easy to find in a junkyard because the mowers decks don't hold up that well?
