BTW Mr. Divinia I noticed you had a 5525 on your sig. line and I was wondering what kind of fuel economy you get out of it mowing? I looked at the spec. and it was saying 5.1 GPH and I was wondering if that was pretty accurate for normal use or is that when it is wide open.

Thanks,

Dusty

That is a good question. Hum - I fill from a farm tank, so it is hard to tell how much I put in. The tank is 33.5 Gal. I can run right at 8 hours running full tilt with a 10'6" disc mower which really works the PTO and it will use almost a full tank.

I can run my 467 round baler all day on less than a tank of fuel and that is 65hp.

By far the highest burn rate is running my Krone AM323S disc mower in a caddy. That seems to be my worse case with my equipment. Thinking more about it, I mowed 100 acres the other day with it. It took like 14-16 hours. That burned 1.5 tanks.

I will keep better notes next time. I always say I am going to do it, but I never do. I never felt like I needed a bigger tank until I got this disc cutter. It uses way more fuel than a 15' batwing.

We actually ordered a 5325 but wound up with a 5425 instead. We felt more secure with the history of the motor in the 5425. The price you have quoted for the 5325 is decent. The problems we ran into with trying to buy a 5325 was nobody had one, we would have had to wait almost 4 months to get one, and used ones cost as much as new ones.

Good luck with your search!

fuel usage in GPH on JD site is .72 gal per hr more for 5425 than the 5325. I don't know if that is average usage or heavy usage or what.

Seems like the 54 is 3,000 t0 3,500 dollars more than the 5325 if I remember right.

Good point about the motor history of the 5425. My choice of the 5325 concerns me a bit for that reason.

Choices, choices, choices. Was it the model T that Ford gave you a choice of color in black, black, or black?? There's so many tractors to pick from, its hard to decide. But that makes it fun.

Type of work makes a huge difference in fuel consumption. None PTO activities (front end loader work, some box blading, etc) I thought my fuel gauge was broken. Hook up a 15' batwing or even worse the 10'6" disc mower and the consumption goes way up.

Dirty Dusty. Your 33,500 appears to be an even 1000 bucks less than what I paid for what appears to be the same tractor--I bought it on 8/28. Mine had 2 rear remotes--I figure yours did too. I have seen a couple of 5425 here in West Texas--had cabs and don't have a clue about the price. The dealer I saw them at I have not been able to get any quotes other than JD retail--same as the web site.
