I am a grad student at UCSD and as a side fun project, I picked up a 5300 that needed a little tlc. Engine now runs perfect, pto and rear hydraulics for three point hitch work fine.
Unit has a power reverser transmission - unit does not engage to move forward or reverse. Picked up the tech manual in cd format from JD and started looking at the diagnostic ports. High pressure port is wet, forward and reverse ports look dry (and yes it would be nice to have the pressure gauges to properly do the diagnostic but I am a student!). Suspected the interlock so pulled the reverser and found nothing - also no metal residue in the bottom of the tranny.
Is there an interlock I am overlooking? Any Ideas? Thanks Bob
I plan to post the complete sequence of tear down with pics later! Is here a current area on the web for videos of tractor repairs?
