I just purchesed a 5205 and when I start it for the first time each day it lets out white smoke for about 30 seconds and sure seem a little loud. Is that normal for a new tractor? My cousin has a 5105 and it doesn't seem as loud .
Couldn't find the post but it seems there was a post about a month ago on some other new Deeres doing this. As I recall it is normal. I know the loudness issue was discussed and I think the smoke was present too. May have been on the new 4000 series tractors?? One of the other Deere owners may recall that post and get you too it. I wouldn't be too concerned at this point. From what little I recall some others chimed in with similiar experiences on new machines.
Our 5420 is 277 cu. in naturally aspirated and it ALWAYS lets out 1 puff of unburned diesel smoke for about 2 seconds. And yes, it is fairly loud. The colder the air, typically, the louder the diesel will be at start up.
