Hello, thinking I am close to pulling the trigger on a new JD 5055e tractor with a H240 loader. Also trying to trade in my Massey Ferguson 461 on it. So far I have heard from one dealer, of two that i would like to work with. They are both about 45 min away so that is a non-issue.

The dealer I have heard from I really like, and want to go with. They are quoting me $32,965 for the machine plus $7598.40 for the loader, for a total of $40,564 w/tax. Subtract a trade allowance for $10,995 for mine.. If I sell my machine outright then I can knock $2500 of... ( on a side bar, why don't they just say $8500 for mine? what's the difference? $2500 less for the new machine if I sell mine??? ) anyhow. The other dealer has not gotten back to me on his trade in numbers, but he quoted $38,317 for the tractor and loader.

i am really hoping to go with the dealer that I have the higher price from.. they have been really good to my father and they are a top notch dealer as far as I know, is it okay to bring both quotes to him and say "listen, I really want to work with you guys, can you work to meet this pricing?"

I have never owned anything brand new in my life, excited, but $40k is a ton of money and every nickel I can save I want to. I would assume that neither dealer as at their bottom line, if one's first quote it at 38k, they must have wiggle room there too, right?

I have 2 written "Sales Quotes", one from a dealer in Fla and another in AL within the last 6 weeks for new JD5055E with FEL., 2 scvs , One had a 553 and the other had a H240 FEL. Each offer was within $300 either side of $31K. I can see some small difference in pricing in different areas of the country but $40k is more than a little high or this area. Might the price offered for your trade be about $8k higher than actual worth? I am unfamiliar with your trade but past experiences have shown that there is often a direct link between higher trade-in credit and higher pricing on the new unit

I know this is late but I just bought a 5055e MFWD with an h240 loader today. I googled it to see if I got a good price. I got the tractor (2014) for 23400. Loader for 6500. Total was 29,900 delivered. The tractor has power reverser transmission, grill guard, canopy and 16.9 rear tires. 0% for 72 months.

That is reasonable inflation from where I bought my 5045E in 2012 including the extra for for the other ten horsepower and the tires to match. You got a good deal the OP is being taken to the cleaners.
