jd 4700
The front right axle on my jd4700 has a slight leak. It is not a gusher. However, I would like to have new seals installed. Pending no other problems how much can I expect to pay????

Thanks

Al

:welcome:

There have been a few threads on the front axle leak and should include some good reading and helpful hints, as well as how to fix. A search should get you some good hits.
As to how much, depends on a lot of things. Parts are one thing, no labor if you do it, hauling to dealer, and labor cost of dealer. A call to the dealer will help some, but they likely won't answer how much until they are sure what the fix will entail.

Here is one thread that may help get started. (and I don't believe the $4000 fix for just an axle leak) :)

Dumb question. Are there any additives that can add to the front axle to stop/slow the leak? Would Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer work? It says you can add it to differentials

Thanks. Al

I also got a new seat and somethings like oil changes and new light bulbs etc. So maybe 3000 for you.. My 4700 had to have gear oil added once in a while till we gave up and hauled it to the dealer. Labour is like 90 bucks per hour took a few days of work.
