JD 455 stalls when brake released

I have a JD 455 Diesel unknown year, I’m guessing early to mid nineties
Starts and runs fine until I let me foot of the brake. Stalls immediately, I’m assuming it’s in the safety interlock circuit. Any ideas what may be causing it?

agree sounds like safety switch issue. Service manual TM1517 has several pages of electrical diagnosis along with detailed electrical diagrams.

If the stalling is always related to removing your foot from the brake I'd start by looking at the brake interlock and perhaps the seat as well. It may even "think" the blade is engaged. It definitely sounds like a safety switch issue. There may be a safety switch on the HST as well. Many tractors now have a solenoid to cut off the fuel to stop the engine. You may wish to track down a wiring diagram to see how all this stuff interacts.

My father had a tractor that had 2 safety's, one in brake and one in seat. If he released the brake while not in the seat, it died. He had to be in the seat to release the brake.
