Buying Advice JD 4510 at auction

Hi, JD 4510 with 460 loader, 4WD, Power Reverser, Ag tires, 850 hours. I see prices for these at other sites listing from 13k to 28k. Unit at auction thanksgiving weekend. I need some help setting a ceiling price given the info I am able to find. Unit looks to be reasonable condition I am told by someone who has seen it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'd have to agree with that number, being it's at auction I'd take a lot of time going over it before I bid though.

Agree with what's been said. Things end up at auction for a number of reasons. Not all of those reasons are bad, but some are. Look it over VERY carefully. If you can't start it and run it before the auction - Well, what you see is what you get and you're on your own after auctioneer says "sold". If you can test it out, I wouldn't pay more than the absolute bottom price that similar machines go for from a dealer. If you can't, pass - or pay what it's worth in parts.

most of the time things that end up at auction are in good working shape.but it can also be in rough shape as well.just look it over real good crank it if you can.

Crank it and try the transmission, 3pt, loader if equipped. Be prepared for some small issues that will come up later that you will not see initially.

If the majors check out and you can save around 4-5k off a similar hours dealer tractor... go for it.

Figure a couple grand of your 4-5k savings for any gremlins that will show up later. If they never show then you can add that to your reward for taking the risk.

Do not pay near dealer prices at an auction, no matter what.
