JD 4410 front PTO broke

My gear and shaft on a JD4410 broke, and i will have to replace them.
Have anyone done that job? Is it possible to do without splitting the back end?

It appears that your mating gear and shaft are longitudinally mounted on the tractor:

Appears like that shaft is mounted in the lower portion of the center housing in place of the 2wd cap part #9:

Doesn't look like you can get to either end of that shaft without splitting the tractor and pulling the center housing

I installed a mid pto kit on my 4410. You can do everything without splitting the tractor. All that you need to do is drain the transmission oil and remove the rear cover. I can send you the instructions in a few days. I need to scan them and I'm not in a position to do that right now.
