Our non-profit has a JD 4310 with about 800 hours on it. I noticed it has started losing power
when bushhogging, I have to push in the clutch, stop, and then release the clutch and the power
seems to come back. I noticed last week when climbing a small incline, the power slowed and then
went away completely. I pushed in the clutch for a moment, then let it out and I had power again.
It has one of those in and out transmissions, I forget what they are called. It has a handle on the
steering column where you can go from forward to reverse and back without using the clutch.
We have talked the JD dealer and all we were told was it's an expensive fix, to bring it in when it
no longer has any power.
I know this is a pretty poor explanantion, but can any of you John Deere advocates out there tell me
what the issue might be and any idea of the repair cost?
Thanks!

Does the engine slow/bog down significantly when you "lose power"?

First thing I'd look into is a complete servicing of the tractor. Complete hydraulic flush etc. Filters everything.
