local dealer has a 2001 model 4300, 4x4, 12x12 synchro , 420 loader, 575 hrs (not sure about mid pto). going to look and drive tomorrow or friday, looks to be in very good condition from website pics. asking price is $12,900. not exactly sure about the tranny...says 'synch rev transmission'...not sure if it is power reverser.

i think that is a little high (tho not extremely out of whack according to tractorhouse and machinefinder), BUT they offer 0% for 36 months on used tractors.

if everything looks and drives ok, i think i will buy it, mainly due to the 0%.

i'm in the northeast where prices seem to be higher....anyone have thoughts on this?

thanks!

It's a reverser tranny...
Anyway, price is quite good...not high at all especially considering the low hours.
BTW, I'm looking at this one too.

hey Roy, have you looked at it in person, or just online? i presume you mean this exact tractor and not just a 4300?

they said there has been some work done to the front axle (seals probably) and something to either the pto or the reverser (he wasn't 100% sure fromt he report). i need to find out more details about this.

Online and a phonecall, but yes, this tractor (if it's at Z&M AG AND TURF). We didn't dscuss too much about the work done on the tractor, but the early 4300's had a problem with the front wheels scuffing. That required an axle change.
One thing I am concerned about is the front tires are turf and the rears are industrials. That's not a good match, especially with MFWD.

yea, that's the one.

i asked him about the tires. i thought that i had read that they should 'match', at least in that if both sets were at 50% and you changed the fronts to new, it could damage the tranny due to mismatched ratio. the guy didn't seem to think the turfs were a problem, but i will have to find out more info for sure.
