JD 4300 vs 4310

Just about to purchase a 4300 and now hear about the 4310. Should I wait? Wonder what the price difference will be? Will the 4300 be discontinued?

This is a typical situation for most us. Be it computers, cars and now tractors. Do we wait and wait for the new and improved models. When they do come out, am I going to be a guinea pig, will the price difference be to great, I really want to see the new models but they won't be out for months and I really would like a tractor now and when they do come out everyone will want one so they will be short supply and my dealer won't bargain because you know he knows it. Just a few of the thoughts that go through our heads when this situation presents itself. Whew, am I glad I've made up my mind,,,, I think!!!!! Rat....

I would assume the 4300 will continue and be called a 4310. Decisions, decisions.

A little doomongering here: Some of us that were purchasers of early 4300's and 4400's had lots of problems due to JD's lack of quality control, lack of adequate field testing as well as some engineering problems (turf tearing front end, hydro tranny failure, PTO failure, brake problems, linkage problems, dash fogging, axle seals and other "minor" issues). Based upon the number of problems I had with my first 4400, I would never purchase another JD product (kind of like a Microsoft Product) until after it had been out there for at least a year and the major bugs (if any) had been eliminated.
