JD 4300 Tach

I've gotten nearly 50 hours on my 4300 now. Recently, I noticed the tach began jumping around and the quit working along with the hour meter. The next time I mowed, the tach began working fine, then after a few minutes, the same problem. Does anyone know of a cure???

The first thing I would check is the ground up behind the instrument cluster... since both gauges are electronic (not mechanical) a bad ground would be a probable cause.
