jd 4200 running rough

I have a jd 4200 that starts fine runs at idle up to 1500 rpm fine but go over that and it starts sputtering-rpms drop and sometimes quits all together and I can restart it at idle and run fine after a couple of seconds. Could this be due to some crud in the fuel tank blocking the outlet. I have replaced all the fuel hoses and filter and still doing the same thing. any help would be great. Thanks

Sounds like a piece of SOMETHING getting sucked into the fuel tank outlet. In my case it was a piece of silicone gasket that had come adrift from my hand pump. When it quits, take a quick look at the rubber hose TO the fuel pump, the suction might collapse it for a minute.
