JD 4120 pto stops spinning under resistance

I’ve got a 4120 that had 500 hours on it when i purchased it. Now has 600 hours on it. I’ve never used the rear pto until recently and noticed when I had a post hole digger on it, the auger stops as it goes thru hard dirt. Same with a tiller as it gets deeper it stops. Once you lift it up it spins just fine. The tractor does have the loader on it and that’s all I’ve ever used. Never any problems with anything else on it. In looking thru some threads I did see several similar posts but none with a final outcome. I did see the solenoid goes bad or gets gummed up on these and maybe especially since the pto doesn’t look like it was used much. All oil was changed out when I purchased the tractor and all of it looked fine. Anyone change out the solenoid on this tractor yet and any help would be appreciated it. Looks like it’s in a tight spot.

Your description makes it sound like a clutch problem. But your thoughts make it sound like you think it is an hydraulic fail.
Do you have the service tech manual for this tractor? Maintenance history that you know about ?

PTO issue John Deere 4120 stops under load

I have a 2005 John Deere 4120 ehydro 600 hours. When I use an implement (tiller or brush hog), the implant stops spinning under load. Once I lift the implant from the ground it starts spinning again. I have the correct RPM running, engine never bogs down. I don't use this tractor often...

Does it have a shear pin?

No manual and as far as I know the tractor was used for personal use around the home. Owner had it for around 15 years and put 500 hours on it til he passed away. Shear pin on post hole digger and clutch on tiller if that’s what you mean. It’s not the implements.

First move, I'd suggest changing hyd fluid, as well as the tranny filter AND clean the transmission strainer. Then get the service tech manual if proceeding on your own.

Good, Hope the solenoid solves the problem. Look straight forward to change it out?

Looks like it’s going to be hard to get to, if that’s the route I go
