I have about 2.5 acres of lawn that I mow and currently own a Husky zero turn. The ZT does a good job but I'd like to consolidate being I have the Husky and the JD4110 and a Kubota L2700. Currently have a 60" LandPride finish mower on the JD works okay but I'm thinking of getting a mid mount mower for it and ditching the LandPride. One thing I don't like about the LandPride is the weight and the fact that it pulls the tractor around.

So,,,, has anyone used both a mmm and a finish mower (specifically on the 4110 or similar)? What are your thoughts?

I use both a 60" MMM and a 60" LandPride finish mower on my 755, which is very comparable to your 4110. Yes, I do feel the LandPride back there and it does "wag the dog," but it has several advantages over the MMM:

-Very easy on/off
-Seems to provide a slightly better cut
-It's rear discharge, so distributes clippings better
-I can mow closer into corners and under trees

The only real advantage to the MMM is the ability to more accurately mow closer to obstacles that i can pass by.

I got the LandPride after 15+ years of using the MMM exclusively. I still use it in the fall to connect to my leaf collection system, but the rest of the year I much prefer the 3pt mower because it leaves my tractor more useful for other chores with better ground clearance.

Based on my experience, I'd recommend if you do get a mid-mount, you keep your Land Pride until you are sure you prefer the MMM.

Thanks for the reply. Some more info...

The JD will pretty much become the dedicated mower because I have the Kubota to do the other work. My wife wants to be able to mow the lawn when I'm away and won't touch the ZT and I think it would be better for her to use the mmm vs the Landpride on the 3pt.

Right now I have the JD up in NY and the Kubota in NC where I currently live. When I finally get rid of the place in NY I'll be bringing the JD down to NC. One thought was to swap out the 4110 for something smaller but it was my dads and would really like to keep it.

Purchased a 4110 back in 2003 and got a MMM deck with it, although never used until 2015. Didn’t have much lawn to mow, plus had the tractor in the woods/bogs a lot. Can’t really do the later with a mower attached, and putting that pup on and off is good enough workout that you really don’t want to do it frequently. Moved to a new place with a lot of hilly lawn; old mower wasn’t going to make the hills so decided to try out the pristine mower deck on the 4110. Quality of cut, speed to get over two acres mowed up and down slopes was pretty impressive.
Not so good is trying to get the 4110 in/under/around the typical lawn layout, such as shorter trees, low branches and shrubs. Long wheel base/rops is not an advantage…… Eventually wound up with an X500 for the lawn----easier to maneuver, but quality/speed of cut doesn’t approach the 4110. BTW, R4s can also be hard on turf, particularly sandy soils or any time you make a tight turn.

My 4110 has turf tires on it so I'm not worried about it chewing up the turf.

I guess I'll look around for a mmm deck and go from there,,, I can always it if it doesn't work out and use the finish mower. I have plenty of time to find one as I probably won't be bringing the JD south until late this year.

Based on the additional info you posted on 4-27, I think you and your wife will be very happy with a MMM.
