Buying Advice JD 346

Anybody have a opinion on a JD 346 wire tire for $3700.00 ?

Seems like a premium price for 30-40 year old baler, wire tie to boot. Are you wanting a wire tie unit?

Not really wanting a wire tie. My baler self destructed and I'm looking for a different one. I've had a hard time finding used square balers. I also found a NH 276 but it's more money than this.

Used small square units can be difficult to find. You may serach farther out of your area if you are experiencing a good hay year where you are at then everyone is using what they have. Can find units in the areas that are experiencing poor weather condition and the units are sitting. I can't really say too much about wire ties other than your dealer may not stock much of the wire specific parts. A lot of these units have made their way to Mexico along with the old Cubers. From what I recall the 276 was a pretty good little baler, since you have already had a baler you can understand how a wore out one can nickle and dime you to death so although premium prices here for these the units condition my warrant the higher price.

I have a couple 346 projects. If I had to do it over, I would have never bought it and stuck with round bales only.

A new 328 baler would still be kinda cool.

You are right were I was a few weeks ago. I looked all over a good used square baler. Found two types: either totally clapped out junk, or nice shiny ones that were within a tick of what I could buy a new one for. Called JD dealer, gave me an awesome deal plus zero percent on a brand new 328.
