JD 310E backhoe battery light on and tach has quit?

I have a new to me JD 310E. Today while operating the backhoe, the battery light came on and I noticed that the hour meter has also stopped running. I pulled the panel face where these reside and didn't see anything obvious. Any tips, wiring diagrams or links to such things greatly appreciated!

Some diesels use the alternator for the tach signal. What are the odds you have a broken/loose alternator belt?

I disconnected the wire at the W terminal of the alternator and reconnected. Seems to have corrected this problem. I've moved on to the 4wd circuit of the tractor as this is not working properly. The default position on the tractor is 4wd. If I switch it to 2wd, the parking brake light comes on.....
