I am seriously thinking about buying a John Deere 3038. Hey, what do y'all think of that tractor?

There's a few folks here with 3000E series tractors & a fair number of threads regarding their uses. I like mine & consider it appropriate to my needs and a good value at it's price point. It has a strong PTO for it's size and is pretty economical to run - usually in the ballpark of about 1/2 gallon an hour. Mine has about 230 hours on it so far and no problems.

Thanks. I am real close to making the deal.

If there is any chance you might be interested in using a hydraulic top & tilt or a grapple in the foreseeable future, get the additional hydraulic remotes added in & included in your financing. It's in the neighborhood of $1700-$1800. I wish I had done so when I set up my purchase & 60 mo. 0% financing ... Also be sure to get the rear tires filled for ballast. They have plenty of power and are relatively light so you need the ballast for traction when running ground engaging tools.

Thanks for the advice. Everything is hilly around here so I will definately get the rear tires filled.

I have a 3032e (with only 10 hours), but so far so good. My tires are not loaded (yet), and I can definately see the weight difference (and shorter wheelbase) when brush hogging over bumpy terrain vs the old 1960s Deere 2010 I borrowed.

I think it is a lot of tractor for the money and less to go wrong. Not to say the 3x20 series aren't nice, but I couldn't justify the extra $5500 to go to the 3320 for what I use it for.

I own the 3032 and as you have done by reaching out for advise I did the same, after reading and researching I pulled the trigger and I can tell you its everything you need and nothing that you don't great machine it is a simple/basic cut I had a 2320 before the 3032 and tell you hands down that I wish I had bought the 3032 first, I looked at the 3038 at first but did not need the extra pto hp and could not justify the extra 1500 both machines are great

We also have property in Georgia and I am taking the 2615 there for use on the tree farm. Our other farm, where we live is in Alabama and about 150 miles from the Ga, property. I have been happy with the 2615 - works hard - no problems, but the Deere is a higher hp and I like the features.

I don't know if this is true or not, but my local JD dealer told me that the 3038E is John Deere's number 1 selling tractor and that they sell them faster than they can build them.
