John Deere 3005
Hello ladies and gents. Like the title says I have managed to crack the trans case on my 3005. It cracked on the right side where the large bolt goes in that holds the bracket that the drawbar rests on. I am in need of some help figuring out where to get a replacement. From my internet sleuthing I am fairly certain that the part number is AM876707 for the case. From what I can tell the same case was used on the 790 tractors as well as the 670. What I have not been able to find out is if the internals are the same. Preferably I would be able to find a 3005 tranny and just swap them out, but so far I have had no luck finding one. Any thoughts on where to look and are the transmissions the same between these tractors?

I do not know if the cases from the 790 and 670 are the same as your 3005 or not. Your 3005 was assembled in GA, while both the 670 and 790 were both build by Yanmar in Japan to specs provided by JD.
I would do a lot of research before I bought a 670 or 790 to replace the 3005 parts.
I do know parts come from all over to GA to be assembled, including engines from Yanmar of Japan. I do not know where the transmissions and differials are from.
Also the JD models build completely by Yanmar were shipped as fully assembled tractors.

I have a 2008 3005 that I bought new, it is Yanmar built. All Deere did was change the model number from 790 to 3005. It is 2wd.

Dirtczar,
The AM876707 transmission case was used on the 670, 770, 790 and 3005. The 670 used a different ring and piston for the differential. The 770, 790, and 3005 used a AM80576. The 770 prior to s/n 106672 used different bearings in the center section between the clutch housing and the transmission housing. So a transmission from a post 770 post s/n 106672, 790, or 3005 might work. However I did not take the 2 hours required to examine every part on the parts catalog for the transmission to definitively say it will work. I would encourage you to go do that prior to making the purchase.

Best of luck.
