Does anyone know if the front 3pt hitch will work with standard 3pt attachments? Looking at the dealer pictures it looks like if I take the quick hitch off (the triangle piece) that the arms would work with a normal 3pt implement.

I ask because I'd like to put my own snowblower on the front that is narrow (52") to fit on sidewalks. I have the gearbox to reverse the rotation and reduce the RPM to make it work. I'm about to buy a 3720, and would like to use my Normand snowblower instead of the 60" JD one, so I'm hoping the hitch will work. (then I'll just need to have a custom PTO shaft made)

Thanks!

Short answer is no. The two lift arms are too narrow. That said, I guess with enough modifications anything is possible.

If I had to guess Deere did this as a safety measure. In other words a way for them to control the weight that's put on the front hitch. The hitch only has one hydraulic cylinder to do the lifting.

As far as I know Deere only offer three attachments (their attachments) for this front hitch, blower, blade, broom.

I bought one. Haven't installed it on the tractor yet. My guess is JD went this route to be "global" . I've seen European JD's with front 3 point hitches for years. Guessing cost cutting measures. It seems like to me the lift capacity is there. Category "o" attachments look like they would fit. I'm going to make mounts for my rear blade to fit up too the hitch. That's my winter project.
