JD 25A Roller bearing ends

Anyone found a cap or cover that fits over the roller shaft end to keep this from occurring? Thank you.

How about this shield solution John Deere is using.
Should be easy to fabricate.

Also try caulking the gap with a generous amount of silicone.

Maybe fabricate a cap that attaches to the 3 bearing bolts. Might take a beating as it hanges out a little more. Don't think silicone will work as the shaft is always turning and probably just get tore off with the weeds.

Welding a strap thats a couple inches or what ever is need around the edge like Dave suggested looks like a pretty good idea. Would allow it to cool off and easy for maintence access.

Perhaps a pipe nipple cut as short as possible so as to only have a few threads left. Then welded on over and around the bearing. Then a pipe cap screwed on if your wanting complete coverage. This would allow you to access the bearing more easily if repairs become needed. May have to check somewhere besides a box store for a fitting large enough. Fabrication shop, commercial plumbing store or oil field supply house.

Check the Parts Catalogue. Your end plates and bearings have been superceded to the type shown in Daves pic.
The 3-bolt bearing housing is now a 2-bolt for the new/different roller shaft diameter and the Skid/Guard Plate protects the end of the shaft better.

You can weld on your own Skid. (Or have it done locally for loose change and/or Beer Vouchers).
