My tranny is getting up to 225F during mowing with a belly mower. Outside is only 75Fish.

What are some things that would cause a hydrostatic transmission get that hot?

Not sure about your particular tractor, but 225 may not be overheating. My previous two Kubota HST's would hover at 190-200 when worked hard. These were 10-11 gallon sumps.

You could clean out the transmission cooler, assuming it has one. I added a huge 3u hydraulic filter to the return line of a previous tractor, which both increased the hydraulic fluid volume and lowered the temps somewhat.

It's a sub-compact, no cooler and only holds a little less than 4 gallons.
