JD 2305 engine stops when shifting from neutral to high or low range

John Deere 2305 engine starts and runs fine but when I shift to high or low range , the engine stops.shift to neutral
it starts right up again. Anyone know where the neutral switch is?

I guess you have (like my newer tractors) an interlock switch that prevents you from starting when in gear to "protect you from yourself" (big brother). Either it is out of adjustment or defective. First place I would look for it is under the console....between the steering wheel and the floor, in that shrouded area where the shafts are located between your knees.

I said under the console because that is where the rods are that perform the function on mine. If yours is in another location then look under it's location.
