JD 2210 too much tractor?

Bill,

The 2210 with the 210 loader is rated at 620 lbs lift capacity. Trust me, this is highly underated; that said, you had better be working on a flat surface or have the corresponding ballast in the weight box on! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

BTW, in the JD line the models in the X series can have 4WD, the 2210 does, and the larger CUT's all do or have the option of having this.

Happy hunting!

Go for the 2210. It will speed up all those tasks and have greater and longer resale value, when you trade up for your 4000 series! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

<font color="blue">"... After I posted I walked around the yard at the bottom of the hill at the edge of the woods and wondered if even the 2210 could move all the rocks, stumps, and felled trees left over from the original construction. [P] Then I walked into the woods and wondered if the 2210 could help me take these dead but still standing trees out of here. More firewood! .... </font>

Hi, William. I don't have my 2210 any more. I do, however, still have lots of pictures. I noted that the stump in the attached picture weighed over 600 pounds. I used the tractor to drag away the complete remains of the 45-foot tree and dig out the stump. Good luck with your decision.

Oh yeah... <font color="blue"> ...dead but still standing trees</font> can kill you and anybody nearby. I'm sure you know what you are doing, but take precautions.

William,
I have 5 acres of hills and woods in SE NH. Like you I burn firewood. I also do not have much grass to cut.
Almost 2 years ago I got a BX2200 w. FEL and mowing deck. I have never mounted the deck - I still use my Toro to cut grass.

But the FEL on the BX gets used all the time. I have done some landscaping with it. I moved a berm that I spent weeks building with ashovel and a wheelbarrow. With the BX I moved it in 30 minutes.

But my main 2 uses are clearing snow and hauling firewood. Before we used a garden cart or a sled to haul firewood. Now I just set the bucket to a convient height, load it up and away I go. We burn a lot of wood - see this TBN Post and the FEL is a back and time saver.

I definitely do not consider it overkill. The JD2210 configured as you said would be nicely matched for your needs.

Here is my John Deere 4x4 X585 with loader and 3pt. This one is gas injected but you can get the diesel version also. It works great on hills and basically the little sister of the 2210. I only have a little over an acre and cut the grass in 45 minutes with the 54" deck. I think though if I was starting fresh I would buy the 2210 for the same or less money. But I do like this unit /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif It only takes minutes to attach or detach the loader, weight box and mower.
