Yep, C&M are pretty good - talk to Dave in sales. Good parts department and excellent service.

I bought my JD at Stoneham's up in Waynesboro, PA. Only a bit further up the road. Ask for James Stoneham. The have a web site - Stoneham's. I bought mine here because they were a little less expensive and their service is excellent.

In Hagerstown, we have a TSC which usually has a good selection of equipement. The local NH/Kubota Dealer is Antitem Tractor. I bought my rotary cutter, single moldboard, and rear blade from them. Good people with decent prices if you want to buy name brand equipment.

If you want to go into Lowdown County, Va (Loudoun for those who need impressed /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif), a TSC exists right off of RT 15 near the outlet mall. A good-sized JD dealer, Carlyle and Anderson if my memory serves me right, is just off of RT 7 a few miles west of Leesburg, VA.

There are a few more and I cannot remember their names.

Hope this helps,

Yep, I spoke with Dave when I was contemplating getting the front snowblower for my 2210. They were a couple of hundred cheaper than Gladhill Bros. I decided to wait on the blower, and recently found a 3 pt. blower at an auction for about $600. Which was about a third of the price that I've seen for new ones.

C&M also had 2210's when I first started looking, which turned out to be almost a year too soon. I ended up buying from Gladhill as they are more local, and at the time they could guarantee that I'd get the 0% financing for 3 years which was about to expire. I could've double checked the pricing at C&M, but unless they were substantially less, I figured it would be better to build a relationship with my local dealer in case there were any warrentee issues.
I've got a TSC up in Mt. Airy that I go to as well. That's where I got my PHD.

Gaithersburg Equipment (NH/Kubota) doesn't impress me. much. I've dealt with them in the past on many occasions, and have had a real hard time with thier poor customer service/attitude. But those stories are for some other time.

I'll have to get out to C&M one day.

Phil,

I had a JD 450 tiller that I used with my old 445. It worked great and was worth every penny! I kept it when I upgraded last fall to the 2210. I bought a new yoke for the conversion and then realized that the drive shaft was too short. I couldn't get a staight answer for the correct shaft from the dealer, so I went to TSC and bought one that was too long and had it shortened. $230 total investment VS $350 plus from Deere.

The 450 (50"cut)is built in Germany for JD and appears heavier built than the 647. I have split 8" field stone in two and stalled the 22Hp 445 dead in its tracks on some tree roots and I've never had a problem with it. It's heavy at about ~350 lbs, but very tough. Mine is ~7 years old and looks nearly new. The 450 is also offset to the right side while the 647 appears to be centered behind the tractor. The offset keeps the tractor from driving through the fresh tilled soil and allows you to overlap you passes nicely.

The 450 is not I-match compatible, but I was able to make it so very easily. The lift arm brackets are Cat 0 and Cat 1 and they slide back and forth on the front cross tube, so adjustment is quite easy. The upper link hole is off by ~3/4 of an inch. I removed all of the lower bolts on the upper frame assembly and backed the tractor up to the tiller with the I-match installed. I used the I-match as a jig and installed the upper I-match bushing. (Cat 1 pin {or 3/4"bolt} with two bushings, Cat 1-2 and Cat 2-3). I leveled the tiller and the I-match and set the upper frame assembly in to the top link hook. By moving the mounting brackets around I was able to relocate this upper pin point. I redrilled the holes in the tiller body and reinstalled the upper frame assembly in the new holes. Now it is I-match compatible and I didn't have to weld a thing.

Let me know if you would like some pictures.

Sorry Phil,

Looks like I was a day late and a dollar short on your purchase. I wanted to add that if you study the brochure on the 2210, it shows one with a 450 on the back and a bail of hay in the FEL. No I-match in the picture though. All other pictures show the 647.

Let me know how you like the 647. Is it centered behind the tractor, or does it have some offset? As far as price, mine was over $2k, 7 plus years ago, how was the 647?
