John Deere 2210
I have a John Deere 2210 that I got this past fall. I started using it this winter for snow plowing with the FEL and it works great. I just started noticing a red/pink fluid in the snow if I let it sit for a bit while running. I looked in the rear of the tractor and found the transmission oil window was showing low. I added more but I am wondering where the leak would be coming from? I the area around the rear PTO is saturated in the red/pink fluid, almost as if it was sprayed. I wiped it all down and plowed again and found it there again, the entire area around the rear PTO was saturated.

I read that there's a "vent" for the transmission that could get clogged and cause it to spray out air/oil when it gets hot. Does anyone have experience with this? If so, where is the vent so I can see if its dirty or snow covered?

I have a first-year 2210 (MY2003) and at about the six month point it started to leak where the 3 point hitch top link attaches to the back of the transmission housing. In my case the dealer removed and resealed the mounting bracket that bolts to the case - it's a fairly large, square, cast piece with 4 bolts as I recall. Mine has not leaked any more but I do get a little seepage around the seal. I would start there. That is the only common leak on the 2210 that I have ever heard about.

You might also check your quick connect fittings where the loader hoses attach to the joystick.

BTW I found with mine that the leak only occurred when I was using the 3 point, when you raise it all the way up it makes contact inside the case. When I didn't use the 3 point I didn't get much leakage. So if you're only using a loader and not blade on the 3 point I would look over all the loader connections first.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I will look over some of the connections to see if I can find anything. If it is the mounting bracket (which is where i would say its leaking from if I had to guess), is that something I can order a gasket for and reseal myself? Or is that a dealer only type of task? I try to do as much as I can myself to save some money. I have some experience with lawnmowers and such so if its something people can do in their garage, I probably can pull it off.

Thanks
