JD 2210 owners weigh in

I have a first-year 2210 (2003?) with the 62C deck, 210 loader, and backblade. Other than the toplink plate leak within the first year, which JD fixed, I have had zero issues with it. I am at 250 hours or so and am very happy with my little JD.

I have heard people say the PTO is a bit "fragile" but the issues were caused using a tiller in rocky soil with no slip clutch to protect the tractor - abuse or design issue? Topic for another thread.

$12K isn't bad for what you are getting, lots of attachments, etc. 100 hours is barely broken in.

As far as why you see them for sale - there are newer, nicer models since the 2210 came out. Also a lot of people on this forum have traded up to 2320/2520 models. I looked at the 2520 but decided to stick with mine for while....

one of my brothers owns one. he has a mower, snow blower, cab and a saw rig for it. that thing blows snow like a champ. he has 200+ hours on it and has had no troubles whatsoever. It's a glorified garden tractor, but it is handy for sawing fence posts!

I have an '05 2210 with just over 100 hrs. I recently added a Woods GTC52-2 tiller and tilled about 2 acres of rocky ground. I did rip it up a little with the scarifiers on my box blade and removed as much rock as possible prior to tilling (which makes a HUGE difference). I was surprised how well the tiller performed (awesome tiller). I do agree a slip clutch is a must. The 2210 never ceases to amaze me with its power. As long as the machine was (and will be) maintained well, you made a good choice. Never had an issue with the machine. My only gripe is the lack of protection for the trans filter and fan. Just keep that in mind when venturing into unknown territory.

I have a 2305 that I got in Sep 2005 with about 150hrs on it. (Also have a 3720 cab).

On the 2305 I have a 200CX loader with a 53" bucket, Canopy, 62"MMM, 47" Snowblower, Woods BH6000 backhoe (Pre-dates the deer 260), and lot's of attachments.

It's been great and it constantly amazes me with what it will do, the traction it gets, etc. (Even having the 3720 it still amazes me). I've had no significant issues with it.

It'll mow like you won't believe and the deck is one of the easiest to get on/off. The snowblower is a little noisy due to the U-Joints I think but you'll have your ears wrapped in a stocking hat when your using it anyway.
