JD 2210 or Kubota BX2200

It's not me sticking to my color. I have researched these and have owned 2 compacts. I began my search looking for the JD 755-855 models..... I am not color blind, but those who see green, sure seem to be.

How many Bobacts do you see with a John Deere engine?
How many comapct excavators use a John Deere engine?
The list goes on....

The adavantage these late comers have is being able to use a BX to model their machines after. In doing so, it would make sense to make everything just a little bit better....to "One-up" the competiton. The only model that folowed this seems to be Massey Ferguson....hardly a recognized name among the primary market of the BX series, and certainly not a threat to the huge volume that Kubota sells.

I tried to buy a John Deere, but the dealer group has some kind of arrogance associated and I don't think they really believe that Kubota is competiton. They thought they could pass the X585 series off as a BX competitor, but that model is simply not even close. My local John Deere dealer is literally 1/4 mile down the road, but when I asked about the 2210 last summer, he brushed it off and wanted to talk about the X series.....

Neil, here there was a $50 difference between the two.

Bota, It sounds like you had a bad experience with one sales person. That really does not make the whole company bad.

That's awesome that there was only a $50 difference. I spoke with 3 different JD dealers, one wasn't too pricey but the others were selling gold. The closest Kubota/NH dealer was pretty pricey too though, but more arrogant.

The bottom line for me was simple...BX23 BACKHOE, JD2210 NONE.....

Guess which one I own? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I agree with you on that Bota.
The 2210 is not really Back hoe compatable. But, we were not discussing the BX23.
I think the 2210 and the BX220 are comparable and both capable machines. It should come down to which one is more comfortable and which dealer you feel will be there for you in the future.

I just went through the exact same thing last Saturday. When I first started looking for a subcompact over two years ago, JD offered nothing. The 2210 was not out yet. They pushed the X on me then, although the redesigned X was not yet readily availble, either. I was pricing new subcompacts and compacts this past Saturday, as well as the used value of my B7500, at the local JD Dealer, and got the same push. I thought maybe I'd go 2210, or 4115 this time around since I couldn't go green last time. Got sent to see the X595, again. I don't think they are selling the X Series diesels as well as they had hoped. He said 2210's were flying off the shelves... Wonder why? Could it be they are cheaper when outfitted the same as a "comparable" X Series? By the time you add wheel weights, ballast, loader, deck, etc... to the X, the X is more expensive than the 2210. Don't get me wrong, I love the X looks and ride quality, but 14k for a glorified garden tractor is too steep for me. And what will the resale be on the X in ten years. Certainly not what the subcompact will be I'll bet. At least the implements will take the biggest hit on the X... not on the 2210.

This is the third time I've been in that JD dealer, and I always get the feeling of arrogance from them. It IS the dealer. I seriously thought about going JD if I downsized from my B7500, but after Saturday's visit, I think I'll stay orange for now... or visit another JD Dealer.

I'm going to throw my 2 cents in. I just purchased the 2210. I looked at JD, Kubota, Case, and NH. It was head to head between JD and Kubota. Price was close. Tractor, 54" MMM, FEL. 2 JD dealers were battling. One threw in the iMatch hitch, bucket level and block heater for the same price. Kubota dealer would not even think about adding more to his already low price of 13,000. JD came in 250 less and dealer is located closer to my home.
I have been using it to clear some serious rocks, trees, and vegetation from around different gardens to make room for a large veggie garden that my wife has dreamed up. The 2210 is handling everything I have asked of it so far and I have yet to fill up a second time.
I think both are good tractors but the 2210 is solid.

Tommy,
I am in the process of trading a B7500 on a B7510. It boils down to financial reasons only, as I love by B7500. I went to JD, again, to look seriously at a JD2210. I am really getting the feeling it is the local JD dealer, as they again would not come to the table. Comparably equipped, the JD 2210 was over $1,600 more than the BX2230. I thought that with them knowing I have a Bota now and I was looking to "switch", they'd belly up to the bar and make a deal. I even tried a JD4110 compared to a B7510. When I told the JD dealer he was almost $4,000 higher, he couldn't believe it. After running his numbers over again, he came down within $1,800. Still too rich for my blood. It's just gotta be the dealer, although another local JD dealer quoted me roughly the same differences (without dickering). Anyway, enjoy the 2210. It's a fine machine.

That is terrible that they treated you that way! If a dealer wants to stay in business, then treating customers like that should NEVER happen.

I am sorry that you were treated like that. I was in a Cub Cadet dealership last year looking for a 60" cut lawn tractor and I wanted to look at the new models I saw online. The dealer kept pushing on me last years model which was covered with cobwebs...and probably lots of interest payments that the dealer had to make.

Needless to say, I did not walk out of the dealership...I ran. Deere dealerships sometimes have this attitude, especially when you walk into an Ag dealership and talk to one of the older salespeople who is used to selling Ag equipment. This little stuff like compact tractors just does not excite them.

The demographic shift that people have been talking about concerning what will happen when the baby boomers retire is now here and it is a reality...that is what is fueling the growth in compact tractors.

Again, I am sorry to hear that you were not treated professionally. You should write the dealership a letter and send it to the attention of the General Manager. I am sure that he would be very appreciative of this feedback.

Thanks.

Although it is not the same model as the BX2200 (now BX2230), the BX23 TLB is very popular in some areas. The closest tractor that Deere has is a 4110 that you can get a backhoe for.

Thanks.
